About Matthew
I am a life long learner and retired chef. I spent several years in university before becoming a chef studying English literature and writing, philosophy, psychology, and linguistics. I have a Bachelor's of Arts in English Literature, and have pursued some graduate course work in English literature and creative writing. While in university I was employed as teaching assistant and led my on tutorial classes. Additionally I have freelance tutored in English literature and writing skills while in university.
I have a passion for training, education, and sharing knowledge, and now desire to continue to grow my experience and skill as an instructor.

My teaching methodology will change depending on the specific requirements of the subject.
For Essay Writing and Grammar Skills, classes are lecture and assignment/practice based, and include proof reading services, advice, and access to the instructor for general inquires.
Advanced Reading Comprehension Classes are typically led in a Socratic method. The instructor mixes lecture and leading questions to help the student arrive to textual understanding on their own.
Beginner Reading Comprehension Classes include lecture, leading questions, vocabulary development, in class practice, and outside class assignments.
1-on-1 ESL Tune Up Classes are available by request and individually tailored to each student.
Resume Writing Workshops and templates available. Do you have great work experience, but don't know how to organize it on paper? We will work together to build you a winning CV, and teach you all you need to know about writing cover letters. Workshops are custom tailored to meet your needs and goals.
