I generally choose a topic or chapter and briefly explain it before starting the chapter. Then mostly citing examples (to which students can relate and participate) I get into the details. Cover up all the points and aspects (as the lesson demands) in between asking brief questions to check the student's interest level and also to check how much attentive he/she is. Try to involve them so that by the time the lesson is over it is almost ingrained in their minds, and won't take much effort to get the lesson done.
