About Alex
I recently graduate from the University of Brighton with a First Class Ba (Hons) in English Literature. I love 20th century literature, in particular postmodernism. I am adept at the close reading of literary texts and enjoy bringing fiction to life through holistic reading.
I also achieved A* in English at GCSE level and A at A-Level. It has been an enduring passion of mine throughout my life.

I hope to progress onto a PGCE in secondary education, so I will be using this platform to develop teaching methods that work for me based on the response and understanding of the students. I will select passages from key texts and discuss with the students how we can garner meaning from them to develop an A* level response.
I take great interest in the social and cultural contexts at play in works of fiction and poetry, which is important to enriching the text and grappling with its key themes. These skills are central to exams and essay writing and I hope that I can bring these texts to life in my teaching.
Having achieved a 1:1 grade for my undergraduate dissertation, I feel confident that I can teach the spelling, punctuation and grammar skills needed to succeed at all levels, as well as the general construction of effective sentences to fulfil essay tasks as well as exam questions.
