About Kimberley
Having grown up with two languages, and having worked hard to gain a third, I understand the unique challenges of learning languages within the classroom.
I decided to study Psychology precisely because I found school hard, and wanted to go into education with a solid grounding in the science of learning. Tutoring English and French GCSE students over the past few years has been incredibly rewarding. I have gotten to know the people I have worked with, and have been a part of seeing them improve their confidence and their language skills.
I have done work experience in an English department in a secondary school, and have spent years doing 1-on-1 tutoring. I became fluent in Spanish by teaching English in a secondary school in Peru. I love teaching and am looking to qualify as a teacher after my Bachelor's.

I am a student at the University of Birmingham, studying Psychology.
I am bilingual, growing up with English and French in my home. I am also fluent in Spanish, which learnt at school and then solidified by living abroad in Spanish-speaking countries.
I have been tutoring language lessons for the past 5 years, and have taught English as a Foreign Language, French GCSE, and English GCSE.
Having studied Linguistics and Educational psychology, I bring a passion for language-learning to my lessons. I believe that in order to learn a language, you have to practice speaking it. As human beings, we have evolved to learn languages in order to interact with others. For this reason, my focus is on oral expression, which is seldom taught 1-on-1 in GCSE classrooms, and drastically increases proficiency.
Lessons begin with key vocabulary needed (taken from the curriculum), a foundation in grammar, before focusing on written and oral expression. Lessons are always planned around the needs of the student (especially driven by areas of concern highlighted in previous exams), and driven towards the mark scheme of the specific board.
