I have extensive experience reading and writing in a variety of formats including academic essays, research driven papers, creative short stories, advertising content, and screenwriting. With a degree in philosophy, I am very comfortable assessing both the overall structure of a written piece and the construction of its individual sentences, and I am able to provide constructive feedback for how the work might be strengthened.

My teaching techniques largely depend on what the student is aiming to accomplish. If the goal is specific, like wanting to get a good grade on a particular essay, my methodology will be focused primarily on helping the student craft a provocative thesis, ensuring that the rest of the paper defends it. If the student's goal is more general, like learning how to write a strong essay, I will focus more generally on examining the abstract structure of a successful essay, and how the student can put this knowledge into action.
