About Matea
As a third-year Civil Engineering student at McMaster University, I understand how stressful school can be. I’d love to help you boost your confidence and improve your understanding to excel in your next test. With experience in four post-secondary Calculus courses and over seven post-secondary Physics courses, I have spent countless hours mastering the fundamentals and discovering effective study methods. I’m excited to share these strategies with you and help you succeed.

I focus on building a strong foundation in core concepts. I emphasize understanding over memorization.
A typical lesson begins with a brief discussion about what the student currently understands or would like to learn. From there I will introduce/reinforce these concepts, breaking them down into manageable steps. Depending on the students age, I would go through practice problems, or try to use visual/real life examples.
What sets me apart is my university experience, allowing me to deeply connect with students and understand their concerns—I was in their shoes not too long ago. Despite recently finishing high school, I have a strong grasp of the subjects due to my ongoing Civil Engineering studies. Advanced physics and calculus has given me a very firm understanding of the topics at the high school-level. In addition, I write many formal lab/project reports each year, allowing me to assist students with report-related questions.
My lessons will mostly benefit high school students, but I am willing to teach elementary as well. I can provide assistance with Math, Physics, and Grade 9-10 Science. If required, I can also provide basic French lessons.
