Teaching Methodology and Techniques:
I employ a student-centered approach that focuses on understanding each student’s unique learning style and needs.
My methodology includes:
Scaffolded Instruction: Breaking down complex problems into manageable steps and gradually removing support as students become more proficient
Active Engagement: Incorporating interactive activities, such as problem-solving games and real-life applications, to make learning engaging and relevant
Formative Assessment: Regularly assessing student understanding through quizzes, discussions, and feedback to tailor instruction accordingly
A typical lesson plan might look like this:
Warm-Up (5-10 minutes): Quick review of previous material or a fun math puzzle to get students thinking.
Introduction (10-15 minutes): Present the new concept using the CRA approach. For example, using base-10 blocks to explain place value.
Guided Practice (15-20 minutes): Work through problems together, gradually increasing difficulty. Use visual aids and interactive tools.
Independent Practice (15-20 minutes): Students solve problems on their own while I provide support as needed.
Review and Assessment (10-15 minutes): Recap the lesson, address any questions, and conduct a quick formative assessment to gauge understanding.
Personalized Learning: I tailor my lessons to each student’s pace and learning style, ensuring they grasp concepts thoroughly before moving on.
Interactive Tools: Utilizing digital tools and resources to make learning interactive and fun.
Real-World Applications: Connecting math concepts to real-life situations to make learning relevant and interesting.
Continuous Feedback: Providing regular, constructive feedback to help students improve and stay motivated.
My lessons are designed for middle school students (grades 6-8) who need support in math. This includes:
