About Nicholas
I’m 21 years old and currently a Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering student at the University of Strathclyde. Maths and Physics have always been my strongest subjects, and I use them daily in my engineering degree.
Alongside tutoring, I also work as a swimming teacher, which has given me a lot of experience working with young people, communicating clearly, and staying patient and encouraging. I’m used to adapting my teaching style to different personalities and learning speeds.
I’m friendly, reliable, and professional, and I take my role as a tutor seriously. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving at their own pace – while knowing they’re being taught by someone who is genuinely competent in the subject and enjoys helping others succeed.

My teaching approach is based on building strong core fundamentals first, then developing from there. I focus on helping students truly understand the logic behind Maths and Physics, rather than relying on memorisation or shortcuts. Once the foundations are solid, students are able to tackle any type of question or scenario with confidence, even unfamiliar ones.
Lessons are 40 minutes long and are structured around the student’s current level and goals. We usually start by identifying weak areas, then work through concepts step-by-step using clear explanations, examples, and exam-style questions. I encourage students to ask questions and think aloud, so I can adapt the lesson to how they learn best.
I achieved 9s in both Maths and Physics at GCSE, and A grades at A-Level, and I’m currently studying Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, where I use Maths and Physics daily in real engineering problems.
I also work as a swimming teacher, so I have strong experience teaching young people, keeping lessons engaging, and explaining concepts patiently and clearly.
My lessons are suitable for any secondary school student, including GCSE, A-Level, or equivalent exam boards. Whether you’re struggling, aiming for top grades, or just want to build confidence, my goal is to make the subject feel logical, manageable, and even enjoyable.
