About Mustafa
I’m an Engineering PhD graduate based in Bristol offering GCSE and A-level maths tuition. My background in engineering means I have lots of experience breaking down complex problems into clear, manageable steps, and that structured approach sits at the heart of how I teach. I’ve worked with students across all abilities, including those with learning difficulties, and I’m patient, calm, and focused on building genuine understanding rather than memorised methods.
I offer both face-to-face and online lessons, and I use my iPad to create an interactive, visual learning experience. We work through problems together, step by step, and every lesson is saved as a PDF so students can revisit the material at any time. For those who prefer it, pen and paper works just as well.
My first lesson is always free. It’s not about teaching new content but about understanding how the student thinks, what they find challenging, and whether I’m the right fit for them. From there, I tailor a plan that supports their confidence, clarity, and exam performance.

My teaching is built around understanding how each student thinks and helping them develop a clear, structured way of approaching problems. The first lesson is always free, and I don’t teach new content in that session. Instead, I use it to see how the student approaches the exam questions, what they find challenging, and whether I’m the right fit for them. This gives me a solid starting point for future lessons and ensures the support I provide is genuinely tailored.
A key part of my approach comes from my day-to-day work as an engineer: breaking problems into digestible, logical chunks. I teach students how to structure their working clearly so they can maximise marks in exams and build long-term confidence in their own abilities.
I usually teach using my iPad, which makes lessons interactive and easy to follow. We work through questions together step by step, focusing on clear methods and well-structured working-out. Every lesson is saved as a PDF that the student can access on their iPad, computer, or phone. If preferred, we can keep things traditional with pen and paper.
My teaching style is calm, patient, and methodical. I adapt explanations to the student’s pace and use a mix of examples, guided practice, and exam-style questions.
Most lessons are 60 minutes, giving enough time to review previous work, introduce new ideas, and practise exam-style questions. I also offer longer sessions for those who benefit from shorter, more focused lessons.
I hold a PhD in Engineering, which gives me a strong mathematical foundation and a problem-solving mindset that I bring directly into my teaching. I have experience tutoring GCSE and A-level maths across all exam boards, both face-to-face and online. I also have experience supporting students with learning difficulties, including dyslexia and ADHD.
