About Maya
I am a university student studying Biochemical Engineering. I struggled with math in high school and I understand how frustrating it can be to learn but I love to share my love for math with others and inspire confidence in all my students whether that’s in maths or sciences.

I create individualized lesson plans for each of my students and make math and science something to enjoy. I have experience tutoring elementary and high school math and sciences. I employ the Socratic method to lead students towards and answer and push their critical thinking skills rather than just telling them how to do the math.

Maya tutored me in Grade 11 Functions and Grade 12 Advanced Functions, and she was really patient and helpful. She helped me understand topics like factoring, transformations, rational expressions, trigonometry, and working through word problems.
One thing I really liked was that she didn’t just repeat the textbook explanation. If I was confused, she would explain the question in a different way or relate it to something I already understood, which made the problems feel much less intimidating. She also helped me break down longer questions step by step so I knew where to start.
