About Phuong Toan
I'm a research engineer (PhD) with 8+ years of academic and industry experience in robotics, artificial intelligence, and computer programming. Over the years, I have mentored and taught many students of all abilities and backgrounds, from teenagers and university students to 80-year-old retired professionals.

Have a programming project, but no idea on how to start? Want to master computer programming so you can independently develop your own software applications, automate tasks, get insights from data, and ultimately increase productivity and revenue in your business? Have you tried learning by yourself online, but are just confused with the shear number of contradictory information out there?
Well, let me help you! Although I studied engineering up to a PhD level, I still had to learn most of the intricacies of programming by myself. I know how it feels. There were tons of information online, but I often found not only one, but many different solutions that were never really specific to the problem I had. So I always spent many hours trying to adapt what I found online and figure out what worked and what didn't. After 8+ years of constantly learning, trying and applying what I have learned in my day-to-day job, I have not only become fluent in C++ and Python programming, but I can also confidently and efficiently learn any new programming language. But, it doesn't need to be that long for you!
The process we follow during my lessons is simple:
1. We identify your needs/project
2. We establish a step-by-step learning plan specific to what you want to achieve
3. For each step of the plan,
- you learn the necessary foundations - only what is necessary, no extraneous boring obscure theory
- you integrate these foundations by immediately applying them to practical examples
- you transfer what you have learned to your own project
4. We repeat step 3.
If you follow this process, you will understand how to think when programming - and, ultimately, this is the most important thing for you to learn to be able to code any software application by yourself. Programming doesn't need to be hard and you'll see that the software you develop will bring you many benefits: university credits ( ;-) ), better productivity through automation of redundant tasks, or better insight from raw data.
During my 8+ years of academic research and industry experience, I have mentored and taught students who have successfully passed their exams, completed their project or improved in their day-to-day job. If you think programming is too complex for you, I have taught students from all levels and origins (teenagers, university students, job seekers, young/established/retired professionals, ...), some of them being diagnosed with learning disabilities. So why not you? I'm incredibly patient and understands that everyone learns at a different pace.
So what I'd like to offer you are fully customised lessons about C++ or Python with a heavy emphasis on the practical side. Lessons are taught online or in person at your home (London, UK). The tuition fee is for online lessons. In-person lessons have an extra travel fee depending on the location.
You might be feeling like this is expensive, especially with the economy going down everywhere. I appreciate how you feel - let's look at it from another perspective: how many hours, days, or even weeks would you spend looking for information online by yourself, and how much would all that time spent on trial-and-error really cost you or your business? Also, times of crisis are the best times to invest in yourself and learn new skills to improve your work or business. So, I think the real question is: how can we make sure that you get the benefits of dedicated lessons, right now, although you don't know me yet? Well, you won't have to pay the tuition fee for the first hour if you are not satisfied!
