My tutoring approach is student-centered, structured, and adaptable, with a focus on building both writing skill and confidence. Drawing on my background in education, research, and creative writing, I tailor each session to a student’s goals—whether improving academic writing, strengthening reading and analysis skills, or developing an authentic creative voice.
I begin by assessing strengths, learning styles, and areas for growth, then co-create clear, achievable goals. Sessions balance skill-building with exploration, combining close reading, discussion, and guided practice. My facilitation experience informs a teaching style that is organized, collaborative, and responsive.
For English and academic writing, I focus on clarity, organization, argument development, and revision strategies, treating grammar and mechanics as tools for precision. For creative writing and poetry, I emphasize voice, craft fundamentals (imagery, sound, structure), generative exercises, and constructive feedback that supports risk-taking and growth.
Grounded in research and inclusive pedagogy, I prioritize accessibility, thoughtful revision, and measurable progress. My goal is to help students not only improve their writing, but also develop the skills and confidence to work independently beyond our sessions.
