About Dave
About Me
I’m a qualified electrical lecturer and industry professional with over 25 years’ experience in electrical installation, inspection and testing.
I’ve worked across both industry and education, from running my own electrical contracting business to delivering Electrical Installation courses (Levels 1–3) in further education.
During my time as a lecturer, I supported hundreds of learners through their qualifications, including those who were struggling with the more technical aspects of inspection and testing.
I teach because I’ve seen first-hand where learners get stuck.
Inspection & testing, in particular, is often taught in a way that focuses on the process rather than understanding. Many learners can follow the steps but lack confidence when it comes to interpreting results or dealing with unfamiliar scenarios.
That’s where I focus my support.
My aim is to help you move beyond memorising procedures and develop a clear understanding of what’s actually happening in the circuit. Once that understanding is in place, exams and practical assessments become far more manageable.
I understand how frustrating it can be when the theory doesn’t quite click, and I aim to make it as clear and practical as possible.

About Your Lessons
If you’re preparing for your 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification or studying Electrical Installation at Levels 1–3, you’ll already know this isn’t just about memorising information.
Most learners struggle with:
understanding what test results actually mean
linking theory to real circuits
building confidence before the practical assessment
passing exams under pressure
That’s where I focus my teaching.
My Approach
I don’t just teach what to do — I focus on helping you understand why you are doing it.
Once that clicks, everything else becomes easier.
My sessions are structured around:
• Breaking down complex testing procedures into simple steps
• Explaining the logic behind results like R1+R2, Zs and insulation resistance
• Using real-world examples from site experience
• Building your confidence in fault finding and test interpretation
This is especially important for 2391, where many learners fail not because they don’t revise, but because they don’t fully understand the results.
How Lessons Work
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, delivered online.
Sessions can be:
• focused on specific topics (e.g. continuity testing, Zs, fault diagnosis)
• exam preparation and question walkthroughs
• support alongside your college course
• targeted revision before assessments
I tailor each session to what you need — whether that’s going back to basics or refining exam technique.
My Experience & Qualifications
I bring over 25 years of industry experience, including:
• Electrical installation and inspection & testing
• Lecturer in Electrical Installation (Levels 1–3)
• Delivering training to both 16–18 and adult learners
• Supporting hundreds of learners through their qualifications
Qualifications include:
• Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing
• JIB Approved Electrician
• TAQA Assessor Qualification
Who I Work With
I support:
• Learners studying Electrical Installation (Levels 1–3)
• Electricians preparing for 2391 Inspection & Testing
• Adult learners returning to education
• Apprentices needing extra support
Whether you’re struggling with the theory, the practical side, or just want to improve your confidence before the exam, I can help.
If you want to understand testing properly and pass with confidence, feel free to get in touch.
