Please accept this letter of recommendation on behalf of LouAnn Fitzgerald for employment at your company. I have had the pleasure of teaching fourth grade alongside LouAnn for the past five years as her team leader at Livingston Elementary School. I have seen her valuable skills and qualities, not only as an educator, but also as a mentor.
LouAnn joined my team in my second year of teaching and I relied on her experience and guidance. LouAnn was very patient with my questions. I have had many times that I went to LouAnn with an idea for a lesson that I wasn’t quite sure how to execute, and we would brainstorm to eliminate any potential roadblocks. Although I have learned so much from her, LouAnn still treated me as an equal teammate, which strengthened our collaboration. When I moved into the team leader position, LouAnn utilized her experience to help tackle obstacles as I was acclimating to my additional responsibilities. What makes LouAnn an excellent collaborator is that she is always bringing new ideas to the table, and she is open to other’s ideas. LouAnn has always handled the last minute changes in our schedules or policies with a level head and helping hand. LouAnn always takes the initiative to help by being the first to begin problem solving and prioritizing what needs to get done.
LouAnn and I started a recycling program in our school as part of an action project for students to help their local watershed. We organized parent volunteers that went around the building with the students to collect the recycling. Students weighed the paper and plastic bottles we collected and graphed the amounts for each month. These graphs were posted in the cafeteria for the school to see how much we’d recycled as a building. The following year, our principal asked us to share our program’s success at a School Board Meeting, as part of our “instructional highlights” segment.
In one of the most difficult and chaotic years of teaching, LouAnn worked tirelessly to make sure that her student’s needs were met. She taught two different grade levels virtually during the same calendar year. In addition, she worked with students after hours to help tutor them in areas where they needed extra help. Even virtually, LouAnn was still able to build relationships with her students. To keep the students engaged, she found creative ways to teach students virtually. I continue to admire LouAnn’s skill as an educator and a mentor.
