About Roxana

Welcome, my name is Roxana. I am a bilingual British-Italian native speaker, passionate about linguistics, languages and cultures, both learning and teaching them - I’m currently learning Spanish too.  I love working with motivated learners and have more than 13 of teaching experience. Which means, I teach a lot and I love it!   I’m also an artist, a ‘Hero’s Journey’ transformation coach and run my own podcast. After training and working as a filmmaker in the UK I now use my film directing skills to coach people on how to deliver powerful presentations in English (or Italian). I’ve mixed my creativity, my teaching experience and my personal development knowledge to create my innovative, task-based, multi-modal language teaching style, to make your learning more fun, more effective, and more meaningful to you. I have won the SOUTHERN ENTERPRISE AWARD for Best Online Language & Transformation Coaching Provider 2023 and have been nominated for this year too! Throughout my career I have taught English at all levels, to incredible students of all ages and from all over the world—The Middle East, Africa, Italy, Spain, Poland, Russia, China, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Ukraine, France, Vietnam, and beyond! My learners come from varied professions and academic backgrounds. They approach me because they are frustrated with intermediate English level of fluency and lack confidence when speaking with and understanding their colleagues! They realise that it is limiting their career potential and blocking their personal ambitions. My goal is to help you reach the level you desire while having fun with bespoke lessons. Together we’ll create measurable milestones to achieve your goals faster and effectively.

About the lesson

I offer bespoke lessons using a task-based learning approach to help improve communication, clarity, and collaboration between multilingual business professionals and their colleagues. My language and communication coaching programmes help ESL professionals not only improve their English to up-level their careers, but also empowering leaders looking to gain skills such as having difficult conversations, writing memos, or giving a presentation. In my classes, I offer an immersive approach by creating an environment where learners actively participate in English language activities; where I use a combination of visual aids, interactive exercises, games, and real-life scenarios to make the learning process enjoyable and practical. With a strong emphasis on pronunciation, training your ear to native and non-natives speakers and presentation skills, I work with professionals like you who want to: - Improve English fluency and gain confidence in any type of conversation: (Breaking the ice, in-depth conversations, exiting politely and confidently. Effective strategies to develop interpersonal skills within real-life contexts); - Speak up in meetings with more confidence: (Practise how to debate, negotiate, interrupt, ask for clarification and more); - Write and deliver powerful presentations: (Improve the structure of your speech to keep your audience engaged, prepare for answering questions at the end of your talk to handle the unexpected, give an impromptu speech with only 5 minutes to prepare; oratory skills such as speech delivery, pausing, engaging the audience and body language); - Improve writing skills at work, including specific guidelines to memo writing, appraisals and descriptive writing and more; - Learn to speak on-the-fly and let go of the fear of making mistakes when talking with colleagues; - Understand both natives and non-natives speakers:  (Awareness of the blended sounds and connected words used by native speakers. Detect how intonation patterns emphasise meaning, perceive the humour through intonation and plays on words); - Clean up their own pronunciation: (Beyond phonetics we focus on the fundamentals of prosody and explore the key elements of the 'schwa' sound, stress, tone of voice, and rhythm that give structure to native English speaking); - Understand culture-specific language;  - Eliminate their biggest problems; - Prepare for exams such as APTIS, IELTS, and other Cambridge exams: (We look at the specific ways in which each exam is testing your skills and practise through targeted exercises and practised tests); PRESENTATION THOUGH IS MY TOP SPECIALITY! Here’s where I apply my film directing experience as well as the language aspects to coach you on various oratory skills, including confident body language, clear pronunciation, pace (of the delivery) and your ability to engage your audience. I also help you overcome fear of public speaking, if necessary, by sharing breathing techniques and using other coaching tools, if you like to go down that road.
