About Pri
Hi, my name is Pri and I'm a Strategic Analytics Consultant for IBM, with a degree in Mathematics, Operational Research and Statistics. I am also a qualified teacher and have worked as Programme Manager for the this site foundation. I've been rated 'outstanding' in my last teaching reports and was awarded a teacher training scholarship by the IMA.
*TEACHING EXPERIENCE*
My last placement was at a school in Lewisham where my mentor twice rated me an 'outstanding' teacher (i.e. OfSTED level 1). I taught Key Stages 3 and 4 as well as A-level. Prior to this I taught in Hertfordshire where I also led STEM workshops for Mathematics.
I previously worked as a full-time tutor in Cardiff, where I a large number of pupils between A-level and primary school age.
*APPROACH TO TUTORING*
A few parents have expressed concerns about the lack of practice papers available for pupils to complete for the new GCSE (9-1) specification. I use papers from different sources which follow the new curriculum so pupil have the opportunity to practice doing papers.
More generally, I focus more on conceptual understanding rather than just procedural. In other words, pupils should be able to explain how to solve problems and why they use certain methods, rather than just doing it. This higher-level understanding has shown to be beneficial as pupils are able to apply their knowledge to solve a wider range of problems than they otherwise would.
Initially, we will seek to identify target topics where the tutee would most benefit from additional help. I will then create a tutoring plan which outlines the order in which we will cover key curriculum areas. I set regular homework to consolidate knowledge.

Perfect! Superb Teacher!
Pri tutored my Son through his Maths GCSE - going from a possible fail before tutoring through to getting a B in his higher paper.
Pri - excellently structured lessons, homework, consistently on time, enthusiastic, knows the curriculum inside out and finally was absolutely determined to get the best out of his student! Recommend Pri as a tutor without question!

Pri has been tutoring our son for a couple of months with great results. Pri coveys his enthusiasm for maths beautifully and has a genuine interest in his pupils' success and progress. He is personable and his lessons are engaging and well thought out. Maths is not our son's favourite subject and it speaks volumes for Pri that he looks forward to these lessons. Thanks to Pri we are having a last minute attempt at the 11+ (I wish I'd found Pri a year ago!) but will continue with the tutoring regardless as it has had such a positive outcome.

Perfect! Maths Tutor
Pri is amazing. He is very knowledgeable, reliable and my son describes him as 'awesome'. He is making maths interesting for my son as well as preparing him for some exams. Pri was absolutely brilliant his tutoring made a huge difference in my son's exams, as this year 2017 the exams papers have been changed and piloted my son was falling behind, when he started 9 weeks of tutoring with Pri his marks started to go up rapidly and he is much more confident, Pri is very punctual and absolutely professional in what he does and also very polite, I recommend him as a tutor and will be using his service again for the daughter.
Pri is very friendly and easy to work with. He is approachable and always willing to give feedback on my child's progress. My son is studying GCSE Maths and is happy with the way Pri is patient and takes the time to explain the work to him, this has resulted in my son moving up a set in his maths class.

Maths tutoringThroughout the academic year, I have worked alongside and have seen Pri flourish into an excellent Teacher of Mathematics. He always ensures to build rapport with both colleagues and students so there is a harmonious atmosphere in all of his lessons. Pri also goes above and beyond expectations and this was evident when he provided extra exam prep sessions for the AS Maths class in the build-up to the summer exams. Pri is able to meet the needs of students of different learning abilities as he has experience of teaching all sets across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Without hesitation, I fully recommend Pri for tuition and he will not disappoint!
Observing Pri teaching lessons on a day-to-day basis was a great opportunity to watch how teaching should be done. With great subject knowledge and a strong work ethic, Pri would be a great asset to your education and overall mentoring experience.
