About Robert
With over two decades of expertise in teaching mathematics at varying levels of complexity, I am a seasoned educator with a background that spans from secondary education to university lecturing. Formerly the Deputy Head of Maths at a prestigious independent school, I taught students from Year 7 through to Year 13. Currently, I serve as a Senior Lecturer in Engineering at a leading UK university, specialising in mathematical subjects such as control theory, dynamics, and mechatronics. I hold a PhD and a Master's degree in Engineering from the University of Bath and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Additionally, I am actively involved in the educational community as the Education Officer for Greater London at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. I am a Chartered Engineer with industrial experience. My passion for education is driven by a commitment to the academic and personal growth of my students. I offer tailored tutoring from Year 7 through to university level and beyond, fostering confidence and proficiency in mathematics and engineering concepts.

Drawing on years of experience teaching students from secondary to postgraduate levels, I advocate a hands-on, "constructivist" approach to learning. In my lessons, I encourage students to tackle problems directly and learn from their mistakes without fear. I predominantly use Microsoft Teams or Zoom for delivering lessons, preferring students to use an iPad with a stylus or a Wacom tablet to facilitate easy sharing of their working process. This helps me gain insights into their thought processes, enhancing tailored support. I am comfortable teaching students from year 7 upwards.
