About Dishant

My name is Dishant Samota, and I am a performing guitarist with years of experience playing live shows, studio sessions, and coaching students of all levels. My approach is simple: I teach guitar in a way that is practical, structured, and aligned with each student’s goals—whether it is playing confidently at home, performing on stage, or building long-term musicianship.

I focus on real-world techniques, clean fundamentals, and clear progress tracking, ensuring every learner knows exactly what they are improving each week. Over the years, I have trained students across different age groups, helping them develop strong rhythm, musical expression, and performance-ready confidence.

About the lesson

My classes are structured, goal-oriented, and highly practical. Each session is personalized according to the student’s level and musical interests. I ensure that learners understand not just what to play, but how and why—so they can progress independently and confidently.

1. Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
I started learning guitar in 2007. What began as a fun hobby soon became a deep passion as I discovered how powerful and expressive the instrument can be. Over the years, I've explored rock, blues, and Bollywood music, diving deep into tones, techniques, and theory. Guitar taught me discipline, creativity, and patience-and that's exactly what I now love sharing with others.
2. What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
I began teaching in 2013, initially helping out friends and family. I realized I genuinely enjoyed breaking down concepts and guiding students through their musical journey. Every student brings a unique style and energy, and helping them find their voice on the guitar is what keeps me motivated. Teaching is not just about playing songs-it's about building confidence and a connection to music.
3. How does your work help society?
Music has a healing, uplifting quality. Through guitar lessons, I help students develop not only musical skills but also focus, discipline, and emotional expression. It becomes an outlet, a stress-buster, and in many cases, a confidence booster. Whether someone wants to perform on stage or just play for themselves, this journey adds real value to their life.
4. If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
Joe Satriani is a huge inspiration for me. His technical precision, melodic phrasing, and tone control are unmatched. What I admire most is how he communicates emotion purely through instrumentals. I try to pass on that mindset to my students-how to express themselves without needing lyrics, and how to focus on phrasing and feel over speed or complexity.
5. Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy composing instrumental music, improvising over blues or rock backing tracks, and experimenting with different guitar tones and processors. I also create content for Instagram and YouTube, blending education and performance. Apart from music, I love having deep conversations over a good cup of coffee and exploring tech and audio gear.
6. Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
Once, during a student showcase, one of my shyest students performed a solo in front of a live audience for the first time. He was nervous, but once he started playing, the crowd went silent-and then cheered. That moment lit a spark in him, and today, he's one of the most confident players I've taught. It's moments like these that remind me why I do what I do.
