About Lydia

I studied Criminology at the University of Ottawa and learned something very important during my time there: success isn’t just about working hard, it’s about understanding how you learn. Everyone studies differently, and once I discovered the methods that worked best for me, I was able to excel and graduate with distinction. This experience shapes the way I tutor. I know that every student has their own strengths, challenges, and learning style, and I make it a priority to figure out what works best for each child. Many of my students are ESL learners or struggle with reading comprehension, literacy, or writing, and I never shy away from a challenge. I enjoy taking the time to break things down, adjust my methods, and support students until things start to click. In my personal time, I am currently applying to law school and studying for the LSAT, and I also work part-time as a legal assistant for a family lawyer. I am a big family person, and I take education very seriously. Seeing a student gain confidence, whether it’s reading more smoothly, writing more clearly, or finally understanding a concept, is incredibly rewarding. I genuinely enjoy being part of that growth and helping students realize what they are capable of.

About the lesson

Hi! I’m Lydia, and I’ve been tutoring with Jaku Konbit for the past three years, helping students of all ages strengthen their reading, writing, and overall English skills. I work with learners from Grade 1 to university, and I always make sure my lessons match each student’s individual needs, pace, and learning style.

I graduated with distinction from the University of Ottawa in Criminology, a program that required strong reading comprehension, critical thinking, and advanced writing. Through that experience, I developed and refined the literacy and communication skills that I now use to support my students.
