About Ione

I am a third year creative writing student at De Montfort University. I have had an unconventional education, being awarded the major academic scholarship at a private secondary school, only for it to close down midway through my GCSEs. I home-schooled the subsequent year, studying independently with the help of tutors, and passed every exam I set, achieving higher than my predicted grades in every subject. This has given me a unique perspective on education that I bring into my lessons.

I have had experience tutoring English, humanities and exam technique throughout secondary school and beyond. I have also had work experience in the classroom, as a teaching assistant in a year seven English class.

About the lesson

I have a holistic approach to tutoring, taking into account the students aims, capabilities and learning style to create a personalised lesson plan.

For primary students: I can help develop writing skills, reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, reading aloud and creative writing. I am extremely passionate about fostering an interest in reading and writing, and aim to make these sessions as engaging as possible for the student.

For secondary and GCSE students: I can help them pass exams, develop writing skills for different purposes, write essays and can also assist in developing reading skills and comprehension across a variety of texts. My aim in these sessions is to deliver my lessons in a fun and interesting way that is conductive to fostering an enjoyment of English as a subject, as well as passing exams.

Across all age groups I also offer lessons in study skills, such as time management and revision techniques. In these lessons, I work with the student to develop strategies for combating issues such as procrastination and distraction. I have experience working with neurodivergent students in this field.

I work between 2pm and 7pm on weekdays, and from 12pm until 8pm on weekends.
