About Enoch
Hi, I’m Leonard. I am a Data Scientist, AI Engineer and researcher with an academic background in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science.
My expertise are on Python, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics and related areas of mathematics and computing. My approach is centred on understanding rather than memorisation. I want students to understand not only how to solve a problem, but why a method works, when it should be used, what assumptions it makes and how it connects to the wider subject.
I particularly enjoy taking ideas that initially seem complicated or abstract and breaking them down into intuitive steps, examples and visual ways of thinking. Once the underlying idea is clear, we can then build the mathematics, programming or technical terminology around it.
Lessons are adapted to the individual student. Depending on your goals, we can work through fundamentals, university coursework, Python programming, statistics, machine-learning concepts, projects, research methods, assignments or technical interview preparation.
I encourage students to ask questions freely. There is no problem with saying, “I don’t understand why this works.” In fact, that is often where the most useful learning begins.
On teaching, I teach because I enjoy the moment when something that previously seemed confusing becomes clear. Many students encounter mathematics, programming and machine learning as collections of formulae, rules and procedures that they are expected to remember. I prefer to begin with the underlying idea and build outward from there. If you genuinely understand what a concept is doing, you are much less dependent on memorising steps and much better able to solve unfamiliar problems for yourself.
For me, good teaching is therefore not simply transferring information. It is helping another person develop the ability to reason independently.
My aim is that, over time, a student should need me less rather than more. I want you to leave a lesson not only knowing how to answer the problem we worked on, but with a clearer way of thinking that you can apply to the next problem on your own.

I've taught Python, statistics and machine learning to postgraduate students and researchers at the National Open University of Nigeria, to civil servants learning to code at Nigeria's national AI centre, and to A-level students through the University of Sheffield's outreach programme.
I hold an MComp in AI and Computer Science (Sheffield), a PGCert in Data Analytics (Warwick) and an MSc in Data Science (Surrey).
Lessons start from where you are. For university students, we work through the ideas behind your module until you can explain them yourself, then practise on problems like the ones you'll be assessed on. I help you understand and do the work; I don't do assessed work for you. For A-level and GCSE maths or computer science, we build method and exam technique. I also help professionals move into data work: SQL, pandas, and a first real project.
