About Chris
Trumpeter, composer, and educator Dr. Chris Van Leeuwen (CVL) holds a DMA in Jazz Performance from the University of North Texas, where he currently teaches as an adjunct professor. He holds MM degrees in both jazz (University of Missouri - Columbia) and classical trumpet (Indiana University). Dr. CVL has a wide range of experience performing in many different styles of music at a high level. He has toured with groups such as the Maria Schneider Orchestra and The Dip, and he is currently a top-call trumpeter in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

I can help you discover how to achieve them. No definitive goals but you love the trumpet/music? We will come up with goals together. I am not a one-size-fits-all teacher, and I am happy to work on a variety of styles and ways of experiencing music.

He is a great teacher and musician, he knows what he's talking about and makes things easy to learn!I've been learning so much with Chris since I started taking trumpet (and some jazz theory) lessons! If you're looking for a great teacher, look no further!I have been taking Jazz theory lessons with Dr. Chris. He breaks down difficult concepts and make them super easy to understand. My daughter had the chance of studying with Dr. Van Leeuwen recently at a Jazz summer camp (she plays the trumpet), and learned so much! He was very patient, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. If you have the chance of taking weekly lessons with him, don't hesitate!
My son has been taking lessons with Mr. Chris and really enjoys it! He has great communication skills and I can hear my son's improvement overtime!
