About Heather
I have lots of experience working with students with special needs. While getting my bachelor's degree I tutored students in the English as a second language program. I really enjoy working with students and watching them learn a new skill. I believe that everyone can learn, it just takes a patient person and someone who really cares about what they do. The saying that I live by is " If a student cannot learn the way we teach, then we should teach the way they learn."

I work mainly with kindergarten through fifth grade students, but I have experience with helping students in middle and high school as well. When I am tutoring, I start with what the student knows and learn what they are struggling with. I will then work with the student on the skill that they are struggling with. I am really good at coming up with multiple ways of teaching the skill. I do not give up until the student fully understands the skill or concept. I am good at reading students' faces when they are getting frustrated and like to provide two- or three-minute breaks as needed. I encourage and love giving praise while working with students.
