About Shamia
Hi, I’m Mia! I’m a math major who has always loved math and science. I went to Alexander Road High School and, like many students, I once had a year where I struggled with math. With the help of a great teacher, I regained my confidence and started enjoying it again, an experience that showed me how much a good teacher can influence a learner’s success. Coming from an educator background, with my mother being a teacher as well, I’ve always valued the power of patience, encouragement, and clear explanations. As a student myself, I understand what it’s like to learn from both sides, and I aim to make math understandable, enjoyable, and confidence-building for every learner I work with.

My teaching approach is interactive and learner-centred. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of learning. I use real-world examples and step-by-step methods to simplify complex mathematical ideas. My learning objectives are to make mathematical concepts understandable and relatable. To develop learners’ confidence and independent problem-solving skills. To encourage active participation and critical thinking.
