About Reuban
Hi - I'm Reuban. I've been immersed in music since I was 8, singing in choirs around the country. I first started playing flute at age 11, with Sax and then Guitar following soon after. I also play clarinet, drums, and accordion. I'm from the North-east of England, and am now based in London where I'm studying at Mountview.

I like to take a personal approach and find what makes you most excited about the instrument - I think the best learning comes when you're enjoying the practice!
My teaching approach focuses on breaking down complex aspects of playing, zooming in on the individual elements before building the bigger picture piece by piece. Lesson-to-lesson this usually means taking one phrase or technique at a time, working at your speed to get it under your fingers and find ease in your playing. Ultimately it's about giving you a set of tools to tackle pieces with confidence, while building your musical skills outside of the instrument to give your playing fluency.
My lessons are best suited for beginners up to Grade 5 standard - whether you've been playing for a while or don't know how to read sheet music, I'll go at your pace.

Being a good musician does not always mean someone is a good music teacher, but Reuban is both! He is a very skilled player and cares about his own musical excellence, but he is also good at explaining the basic fundamentals I needed to know as a beginner. From my first lesson he took things at my pace, adjusting the session as needed to fit with where I was at. If you want to learn music with someone who really cares about teaching you well, then I definitely recommend Reuban!
