About Leonard
I’m currently a second year PhD researcher in the Physics Department at Trinity College Dublin. The main reason I want to teach is to pass on the knowledge and skills I have received throughout my childhood and early adulthood. During all the years in the educational system I have been on the receiving end. Several teachers have given me a lot of subject specific skills and also showed an incredible amount of support. Now I think it’s my turn to help educating the younger generations.

I have extensive teaching experience, having taught both at university level (Complex Analysis, Quantum Information, Physics Laboratories), as well as students close to their leaving cert exams (both Maths and Physics). When designing lessons for new students, my first step is to become very familiar with their background knowledge and skills. Then we establish what they need and want to learn in order to achieve their goals. The final part is structuring lessons, which are designed in a way to bridge the gap between what the students know and what they still need to learn. The lessons are mostly based around interesting problems, so that we develop strong problem-solving skills, as well as a curious and inquisitive mindset.
