About Samantha
My name is Samantha Chan. I am a current A-Level student studying Biology, Chemistry, and Geography. I am an aspiring food scientist. I personally started my GCSEs feeling wobbly and rocky, but after discussing topics I struggled with with students in the years above, it helped me understand them fully and really appreciate how the mechanisms worked. I would like to bring this clarity to a younger student and share tips that I was personally never taught. As for my personality, people frequently describe me as an approachable and amicable person with a friendly face and welcoming attitude. I am always open to criticism and firmly believe that there’s always room for growth. I would love to take you on as my student, as I see myself as a very sociable and personable individual. Choose me as your tutor because I’ve been where you are—I understand the challenges and know what it takes to overcome them. I’m relatable, patient, and passionate about helping you succeed. With recent experience in GCSEs, I can offer practical tips and clear explanations that really make a difference.

My lessons would be hosted in the evenings or on weekends and conducted via Zoom or an equivalent platform. The lessons can last between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours. I teach based on what works best for the student and am open to setting homework based on the content covered in the session, with prompt feedback. Ways I can tutor them is by sharing notes with gaps to drill in to fully engage them and help them understand more tricky topics. Another way I am open to tutoring is to talk them through the concept and at the end, share pre-made notes with my personal exam tips. As for my previous experience, I am a qualified student mentor at my school and currently mentor GCSE students in Biology. Having recently completed my GCSEs, exam techniques and content are still fresh in my mind, so I can provide up-to-date advice based on current examinations. My lessons are targeted at GCSE students (years 9-11) in the UK sitting either national or international GCSEs. I am also open to tutoring students attending international schools who are sitting IGCSEs, especially Edexcel IGCSEs and Cambridge International exams.
