About Jiayi
My name is Jiayi and I am a current senior at the University of California, Irvine. I worked at a tutoring center for four years and have taught kids from kindergarten to high school. I love working with kids because they are pure. I enjoy the feeling of passing down my knowledge about math to them and seeing them succeed academically.

The only way to get better at math is by solving problems. However, for me, understanding the concept is far more critical than practicing the same type of questions a bunch of times and learning it that way. My college professor told me that the math courses prior to college were designed in a way that students could simply memorize some formulas and were able to pass the class with an A with no problem, but the downside of that is no one will remember anything when the class is over. The reason we learn math is to train our logic so that we are able to explain ourselves clearly to others. So if I was to teach, I would hope my students to focus more on the steps instead of the result.
