About Jagruti
As a student who's only recently left secondary education (and left with 7s, 8s and 9s in my GCSEs including in Maths; I obtained a B in A Level Maths), I completely understand how daunting asking questions in a class full of people can be. That's where tutoring helped me... It was a safe space for me to ask questions (small or big; stupid or not) without any judgement. I aim to approach my lessons with the same ideals. I aim to help any tutee grow in confidence and feel like they are in a completely safe space to learn and develop their skills and abilities. I also believe it's easier to learn bit by bit over a consistent period of time. I would aim to have my lessons be roughly an hour long each. My approach would involve me explaining processes and techniques before working on example questions to solidify learning. I don't intend to teach a lesson on a topic and never revisit it - muscle memory, I feel, is extremely useful in Maths and by constantly revisiting topics and continuously identifying and working on strengths and weaknesses, I hope to implement this skill. As an added note: I am also an incredibly creative individual (having taken GCSE Textiles and Performing Arts, A level Art, LAMDA Drama Examinations and Fashion Design at degree level). With the skills I've obtained as a result of such, I aim to make each lesson a fun and free space full of enjoyment, ready to make each tutee feel a sense of pride during each session.

Hi! I am a current BA Fashion Design student at the University of Southampton. I studied Art, History and Maths at A Level (achieving B, C and B grades respectively), as well as Maths, English, Combined Science, History, German, Textiles and Performing Arts at GCSE (obtaining a Grade 9 in Maths). As a university student myself, I feel readily equipped to tutor up to and including GCSE level students. I feel that I will be able to empathise with their feelings and struggles having been in their position not too long ago. Therefore, despite having very minimal experience tutoring, I believe I am decently equipped to help students improve their own confidence. Also being close in age to potential tutees, I also believe it will be easier to create a level of trust whereby they can feel confident enough to clear their doubts without fearing any judgement. In terms of my teaching approach, I believe it's easier to learn bit by bit over a consistent period of time. I would aim to have my lessons by roughly an hour long each to give time for each session to sink in and digest. My approach involves me explaining processes and techniques before working on example questions to solidify learning. I don't intend to teach a lesson on a topic and never revisit it - muscle memory, I feel, is extremely useful in Maths and by constantly revisiting topics and continuously identifying and working on strengths and weaknesses, I hope to implement this skill. I also aim to constantly take note of tutees' progress and confidence regarding each topic taught and then adjust lessons and lesson plans according to such.
