About Amy
I have 3 years of experience teaching Biology to high schoolers at public high schools. Before that, I got my credential and Masters in Education, and I majored in Biological Sciences in college. Though I have never formally tutored, I often provide 1:1 help with my own students after school, to great success.

As a teacher, I believe in hands-on projects and activities that allow students to actually do science, rather than read about it. Whether it's labs or a game of Kahoot, my students enjoy that we are doing more than just worksheets and readings.
In my 1:1 sessions with students, I break down the materials and relate it to their own experiences. I believe biology is more than just memorization, but rather a pattern of thinking that is intuitive to my students once they see that. Also, after teaching a year online, I have developed exciting new ways to engage students in the learning process and empower them to continue that.
