About Yuanmei
Hello! My name is Yuanmei Chia. I'm a Malaysian Chinese who has always had a passion for teaching, starting from my early days back home in Malaysia. I ventured to Australia to pursue my master's degree in architecture, but my love for education never waned. Since the age of 16, I've been privately tutoring primary students in a variety of subjects, from mathematics and science to languages like English, Mandarin, and Malay. To be honest, my journey into tutoring initially began as a means to earn extra income while pursuing my studies. However, over the years, it has blossomed into a fulfilling and rewarding experience. I firmly believe that learning should be enjoyable and effective, which is why I strive to create a casual yet engaging environment in my lessons. Incorporating fun activities and a reward system, I aim to make learning a memorable experience for my students. As someone who values the importance of education and the impact it can have on young minds, I am committed to helping my students reach their full potential.

A Malaysian Chinese Master's graduate based in Newcastle, New South Wales, specializing in Mandarin and Simplified Chinese instruction. Unlike some mainland tutors, my neutral accent makes learning easier for beginners. With a track record of academic excellence, including top grades in Mandarin during schooling years, I bring around five years of tutoring experience to the table. I offer personalized lessons tailored to individual needs, whether you're starting from scratch or seeking structured instruction. I've taught mainly young children aged 6-12 years old, but I can teach beginners who are interested in Mandarin. From private tutoring to teaching in daycares, I've honed my skills in creating engaging and effective learning experiences for students of all ages. In addition to Mandarin, I teach Malay and basic Art (sketching/digital/painting). While I primarily teach online, I can arrange in-person sessions for local learners.

I was a student of Ms. Yuanmei when I was 12. She had a truly engaging personality and always patiently listened to me. Ms. Yuanmei was aware of my weaknesses and would tailor exercises and lessons specifically to address them. Additionally, her tutoring greatly contributed to my academic progress, and I improved a lot under her guidance.
Yuanmei help tutor my 8 and 12 years old kids. She is very knowledgeable and "creative" in her teaching style that make my kids just love it. She is extremely patient especially with my younger one as she get distracted easily. My kids mention this once " Teacher make class fun" because she draw cute character to explain to them..
