About Kaitlin
I have BS in Early Childhood Education from Temple University. I also have my Pennsylvania PreK-4th grade teaching certification, and I'm partway through my K-12 ESL certification from Temple as well. I am currently in my 4th year of teaching elementary ESL.

I teach English through content: either a topic that interests my students, a real-world context scenario, or a general classroom content topic. I use students currently levels of achievement and skill as well as our goals to guide how we will achieve the goal of the lesson (which is also either determined by their personal language goals or what they need most to succeed in general classrooms). For example, I am currently teaching persuasive writing with 3rd and 4th grade English learners through writing a letter to their parents persuading them for things like trips home to Puerto Rico or a new puppy. I also like to have students discuss and share their learning with myself, other students, family, and even other teachers, so that they can use the skills we work on and feel the power of success and building confidence. The same group of 3rd and 4th graders use Flipgrid to record themselves sharing their writing with classmates and sometimes opt to share with other teachers they trust and admire, and they will share their finished letters with their parents when they are finished.
