About Penelope J
I'm a Fine Art graduate, practising artist and experienced art educator with extensive experience teaching art and creative workshops to children and adults.
I have taught art across primary education, worked with children, young people and adults and of all abilities, led independent art classes and workshops, and created large-scale murals and creative projects.
I hold a BA (Hons) Fine Art from Kingston University and have professional experience teaching Art & Design in schools.
My own creative practice includes abstract painting, drawing, mixed media, writing, performance art, movement, murals, surface design and creative products.
One of the things I particularly enjoy is helping people who have lost confidence in their creativity. You do not have to already think of yourself as an artist to work with me.
My approach is warm, positive and encouraging. There is space to experiment, make mistakes, ask questions and discover what kind of artist you are.

Would you love to become more creative, improve your art skills or simply feel more confident picking up a paintbrush?
I offer friendly, encouraging and creative online art lessons for children, teenagers and adults, from complete beginners to those wanting to develop their existing skills.
My sessions can include:
• Drawing and observational skills
• Painting and colour
• Acrylic painting
• Abstract and expressive art
• Mixed media and experimental techniques
• Developing your own artistic style
• Creative confidence and overcoming the fear of getting it “wrong”

• Getting back into art after a long break
I believe art should be about more than simply copying an image perfectly.
My teaching encourages curiosity, experimentation, playfulness and individual expression, while helping students build practical artistic skills.
