About Betty
"Most people think that grammar drills are the only way to reach fluency. This is rarely the case for hobbyists, teens, or travelers who need to function in real-world scenarios. We spend our time on listening practice and role play that mimics actual Latin American environments.
My 5 years of experience allow me to pivot between Castilian and Latin American variants seamlessly. The lessons feel like a conversation between two people sharing a common interest in culture.
You will find that our time together centers on real communication rather than just rote memorization. I always save time for questions about the nuances of the language. My own history with music helps me teach the cadence of Spanish."

"Patient and tradition-rooted instruction is the hallmark of my work. You will discover that learning a language is akin to learning a new rhythm, as I often tell my students. I am a native speaker with 13 years of gigging Latin music in Australia, which informs how I teach culture alongside grammar. I have taught 179 students who come to me for help with DELE exams or travel prep.
I hold a degree that emphasizes the beauty of bolero, flamenco, and chacarera. Vocabulary building feels organic when you approach it through the lens of history.
