About Sakshi
I became interested in teaching when I volunteered in an orphanage as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility policy of my company. Though it was for a short time, but I enjoyed having the responsibility of supervising the children and found it extremely gratifying to see their confidence built when they learnt something new. The desire to get into teaching was reinforced with inspiration and insights from my sister-in-law who was pursuing PGCE in London.
I want to entice the interest of secondary students towards computer science by making the subject exciting and interesting to them so that they grow into successful professionals if they choose to go further into the field.
I taught computer science to children aged 13-16 years in private tuitions while studying my Masters. It not only developed my subject knowledge but also helped me in learning how children learn. It shaped my personality to become more patient, empathic and resilient. I helped certain weaker students achieve better grades by encouragement and tailoring the study material. I endeavored to give them an engaging, interactive and varied learning experience in safe and encouraging environment.
While working in IT industry for more than 8 years as a Marketing Manager, I picked up the skills of verbal and non-verbal communication, organization and managing people. My leadership and mentoring skills are well demonstrated as I am currently leading a team of six interns with the responsibility of developing, implementing, and executing strategic marketing plans for an entire organization. I demonstrated my teamwork spirit, ability to work under challenging situations and successfully meeting deadlines on various occasions which will be helpful to me in my teaching career further. My planning skills will help me in creating and executing a strategic plan for students to achieve and improve their outcomes.
I have always remained interested in learning new developments in computer technology because this is such a dynamic and evolving field. I gained knowledge of various computer languages like JAVA and C++ during my master’s course. I also experienced through the teaching methods of some of my professors that learning is not a spectator sport. As a teacher, I can help students learn to build conceptual frameworks that are deeply interconnected, transferable, and rooted in a solid memory and skills foundations.
My other areas of interest include singing and listening to music of diverse genres. I represented my school at volleyball tournaments. I am a creative and easygoing person with a fun sense of humour.
Good analytical skills, patience, and empathy are the three crucial traits for computer technology teachers, and I possess all these qualities. Being a manager in an IT firm, my job role includes planning for further business proceedings and meeting goals and objectives. I always accomplish the business plans and logically produce predictable results. I am excited to pursue teacher training for secondary education. I feel that the challenges presented will help me develop as a person and help me gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a qualified teacher.
