The first time I met Jan Carrier was a year ago when she was giving a speech on resilience. I was so impressed with how comfortable and confident she was speaking in front of a large group of people. She knew when to use humor, when to make a strong point, when to pause. Everyone including me was attentively listening to every word she was saying all with no notes in front of her. I decided to ask her if she would help me with a Humorous Speech competition that I wanted to enter. I wanted to get rid of the fear of public speaking. One of the major requirements for the competition was to deliver a speech without notes, use movement and finish the speech in a timely manner. I was getting nervous badly, my body would start shaking before, during and after the speech and the notes were a must for me.
