About David
Hi, I’m David, a first-year Computer Science student at university with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for teaching. I specialise in Computer Science, programming, and mathematics, helping students build confidence, deepen understanding, and achieve measurable progress. I take pride in being professional, reliable, and well-prepared for every session. My lessons are structured, tailored to each student’s needs, and focused on clear explanations rather than rushed answers. I strongly believe that understanding why something works is just as important as knowing how to do it. Alongside my academic work, I have a long-standing background in competitive tennis, having played and competed for many years. Sport has taught me discipline, consistency, and resilience — qualities that strongly influence my approach to both learning and teaching. I understand the importance of goal-setting, structured practice, and steady improvement over time. I have also been a tennis coach for over seven years, working with children and young people of varying ages and abilities. This experience has significantly strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, adapt my teaching style, and maintain a calm, encouraging, and professional learning environment. Coaching has reinforced my patience, organisation, and commitment to helping individuals reach their full potential. - Following a knowledge checking exam paper, I narrow the focus on students' gaps in knowledge, and provide a thorough plan on how to improve both fundamental knowledge in theory, and teaching exam technique! - A typical lesson consists of 1-2 hours, focusing on previously learnt topics, new topics, and applying what has been learnt into exam style questions - As mentioned, I am currently a Computer Science student studying at Lancaster University. Having achieved high grades in A-level and GCSE. I have taught in a Primary school for a year, and also at a private computer science school (Logischool). With of course having completed many 1-2-1 private tutoring lessons. - I specialise in teaching GCSE & A-Level students
