About Claire
With six years of experience as a Computer Programming tutor, I have successfully guided GCSE, A-Level, and university students towards stronger academic performance and greater confidence in coding. I enjoy helping learners overcome challenges by making programming accessible, engaging, and relevant to both their studies and future careers.
My expertise includes Python, Java, C++, algorithms, data structures, databases, object-oriented programming, software development, debugging, and programming fundamentals. Every lesson is carefully tailored to the student's current ability, ensuring steady progress through personalised explanations, practical coding activities, and focused revision strategies. Whether you need support with coursework, examination preparation, university modules, or programming projects, I provide patient and structured guidance throughout your learning journey.
I believe that understanding the logic behind programming is far more valuable than memorising code. Every lesson is carefully planned to help students develop strong programming knowledge while enjoying the learning process. I teach GCSE, A-Level, and university learners using a structured approach that focuses on understanding concepts before applying them through practical coding activities.
Lessons begin by identifying your strengths and areas for improvement, allowing me to create a personalised learning plan that matches your academic requirements. We explore programming languages such as Python, Java, and C++, alongside important topics including computational thinking, algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, databases, software engineering, testing, and debugging. I also provide guidance for coursework, programming assignments, university projects, and examination preparation.
Rather than relying on memorisation, I encourage analytical thinking and logical problem-solving. Interactive coding challenges, real-world examples, and detailed explanations help you understand why programmes work and how to write efficient, readable code. Each session includes opportunities to practise new skills and receive constructive feedback that supports continuous improvement.
