I have been giving advice on programming for more than 5 years inside and outside of my university. Some of my students have managed to participate in the ACM ICPC programming contest, others have begun to develop video games or mobile applications independently.

I like to teach the theoretical foundations of the topics that are necessary first and then solve a series of examples and exercises so that the student has mastery of all the concepts. The most important thing is that my "students" know how to analyze the problems, not just memorize solutions.
