About Murph
I am a student at the California Institute of the Arts studying composition and experimental sound practices. I am new to teaching but have many years of experience writing for instrumentalists and using technology as an additional resource for writing. I write for film and multimedia, alongside standalone works, and primarily write music using technology that will effectively translate into live performance.

I will teach anyone of any age. My teaching approach is project-based, getting students to produce works which we will then analyze and develop in class. I'm basing this on my 7 years of formal music education in pre-college and college programs. We will go over the music theory that applies to each students composition, as well as an emotional perspective, that is open to the class in group settings. I strongly emphasize constructive criticism as a point of growth and learning how to convey what didn't resonate with you in your classmates' pieces, without using negative or detrimental language.
