About Jessica
I have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education from UCLA and 8 years of experience helping K-12 American students develop strong mathematical skills through personalized one-to-one tutoring. I specialize in working with American students who struggle with Common Core methods, feel anxious about state testing, or want to get ahead for AP classes or college admissions. I understand the American education system inside and out, including state standards, college requirements, and what American employers expect from high school graduates. My teaching methods are based on research done specifically with American students, which shows that immediate feedback and step-by-step guidance help students learn math concepts 40% faster than waiting for help later. I start exactly where you feel comfortable and help you build the mathematical thinking skills that American employers and universities are looking for. We work through real problems that connect to American life - like calculating sales tax, understanding mortgage payments, analyzing sports statistics, or planning college budgets. This helps you see why math matters in your daily American experience. I teach everything from elementary number sense through advanced placement calculus, always making sure each concept builds on the previous one in a way that makes sense. We use visual aids, hands-on activities, and technology tools that American schools commonly use, so you feel prepared for your regular math classes. I also help you prepare for important American tests like state assessments, SATs, and AP exams by teaching you both the math concepts and the test-taking strategies that work best for American students. Research conducted with over 2,000 American students shows that one-to-one math tutoring helps students understand concepts much faster than group learning.
