About Sara
I’m Sara. I am a Literature enthusiast who is passionate about both books and how authors create meaning. I have recently completed my A levels in English Literature, History and Politics at Rochester Grammar School. I have also previously mentored in German GCSE and enjoy speaking German, having travelled to Germany. Having studied and completed English Literature GCSE myself, I am willing to incorporate an enjoyable visual and memory based style of learning for students. My previous role as a part time teaching assistant at a learning centre enabled me to gain a valuable insight into different approaches to learning and helped me to commit to fulfilling the potentials of students of various abilities; this allowed me to have a sense of vocation for English. For both subjects, I believe strong vocabulary knowledge is especially vital, hence I aim to help students to retain a wide range of vocabulary for their long-term memory. I aim for students to share the same passion for English Literature and German.

I would help students who require English tutoring with literary analysis to focus on the exam questions set, as well as close and layered analysis to ensure that students can engage and explore the debate of English Literature and understand that multiple interpretations result in perceptive and evaluative responses that will often lead to exam success. Indeed, I have holistic textual knowledge of plot, characterisation and authorial intention especially for GCSE texts including Macbeth, A Christmas Carol and Lord of the Flies, but also excellent knowledge on how to apply analytical skills to poetry and unseen poetry. I believe the real beauty of English Literature is that it is open to interpretation; interpretations are vital and I hope to foster strong analytical and evaluative skills in my students to allow them to become well-rounded English Literature students.
