About Charlotte

I am a college student studying architecture and environmental studies at Wellesley College and MIT. I am super passionate about my majors and both involve strong reading and writing skills. I am originally from Kansas City, MO, and I was editor-in-chief of my high school magazine. I have experience in publishing, academic, and creative work, so I can help with anything you are hoping to explore. I love getting to know my students, and I am extremely flexible when developing my lesson plans.

Unrelated to the English field, I love to cook and bake, and I spend a lot of time working in the art studio and improving my portfolio. I also love gardening (unfortunately my dorm can only support succulents), and I really enjoy getting to know new people, particularly as it relates to developing their unique reading and writing voice.

About the lesson

I focus on reading and writing and have experience working at the academic, professional, and creative levels. I can assist students in all of these areas, but my primary focus is developing their unique voice. A typical lesson will depend on individual needs, but I can work with students at any stage of the writing process. Whether you are starting from the beginning and working on essay structure and grammar or you need help editing and fine tuning existing work, I will adapt my lesson plan to your needs.

A general lesson will always begin with some casual conversation because writing is vulnerable, and I want lessons to be a comfortable place. Most importantly, I want to create a safe environment because I am there to help and not to judge. Afterwards, we will go over more specific English/writing goals and work through the process of developing your work and finding your particular voice.

These lessons can be adapted to the middle and high school levels, and I will work with beginners developing their writing skills or more advanced writers who need editing and similar assistance (particularly high schoolers working on college essays).
