About Skye
Hello everyone! My name is Skye and (this will shock you) I quite enjoy reading. I'm also fond of alternative methods of storytelling and how the formatting of a work can influence the things it has to say.
For example, Minecraft's end poem has a lot to say about the Player and the Universe, which would not be quite as effective if delivered in a dry monologue at the end of a book. It is the experience of interacting with a sandbox world that truly makes the flowery, deep message of that writing work.
(I also, coincidentally, quite enjoy video games.)

I enjoy helping students connect with and understand classical literature! Throughout my school career, I have found many of the books I studied frustrating, irrelevant, and boring, despite my love of the subject of English and the craft of writing.
Through my own private experience of helping friends and family understand their English classes, I've found a lot of joy in that work.
A standard lesson will have the student tell me what they're reading as we work together on whatever work has been assigned for that book. Through that, I hope to engage on their level and deepen their understanding of the texts they engage with.
My lessons are best targeted toward middle schoolers, though I have no problem engaging on a peer-to-peer level with high school students.
