About Arindam
I am a mathematics and computation researcher
based in Kolkata, West Bengal, currently
pursuing BSc Mathematics while independently
studying university-level mathematics and
computer science curriculum.
My academic focus sits at the intersection
of pure mathematics and computational
systems - specifically numerical linear
algebra, discrete mathematics, probability
theory, and quantitative research methods.
I study CMU 21-228 Discrete Mathematics,
MIT 18.06 Linear Algebra, and Harvard
Stat 110 Probability - courses used by
some of the world's top universities to
train mathematicians and computer scientists.
I have a genuine passion for making
difficult mathematics feel accessible and
intuitive. I believe every student can
understand mathematics deeply when it is
taught with the right approach — building
from first principles, connecting ideas
across subjects, and always asking why
something is true rather than just
accepting that it is.
Before focusing on mathematics and
computation, I studied mechanical
engineering and physics - giving me
a broad scientific foundation that helps
me connect mathematical concepts to
real-world applications.
I am patient, rigorous, and genuinely
enthusiastic about mathematics. My goal
as a tutor is not just to help students
pass exams - but to help them think
mathematically for the rest of their lives.

I teach mathematics and programming by focusing
on deep understanding rather than memorization.
My approach connects concepts across subjects —
showing how discrete mathematics connects to
algorithms, how linear algebra connects to
data analysis, and how programming connects
to mathematical thinking.
Classes are structured in three parts: first
building intuition through examples and
visual reasoning, then working through the
mathematical structure formally, then
implementing the concept in Python code to
verify understanding. This approach ensures
students understand WHY something works,
not just HOW to apply a formula.
I currently study CMU 21-228 Discrete
Mathematics and MIT 18.06 Linear Algebra
alongside Harvard probability courses —
bringing university-level mathematical
depth to every session.
Classes are suitable for:
- Class 11 and 12 students preparing for
JEE, WBJEE, and other competitive exams
- First and second year engineering and
science college students
- Anyone learning Python programming
from scratch
- Students who want to understand
mathematics deeply not just pass exams
My teaching style is patient, rigorous,
and genuinely enjoyable - I believe
mathematics should feel like discovery,
not memorization.
