About Betsy
With more than 13 years of experience, I am an experienced Flute instructor teaching School students, College students, and working professionals. I believe flute learning should be simple, practical, and rewarding for every learner.
My tutoring style is structured and student-friendly. I focus on breathing control, finger technique, tone clarity, scales, rhythm exercises, and musical expression. Lessons are designed step by step to ensure steady and confident progress.
I value clear communication and regular guidance. I explain techniques in easy terms and encourage students to ask questions. Accountability is ensured through planned practice routines and progress tracking. Integrity is central to my teaching, and I always guide students honestly.
In addition to flute training, I also teach music theory, sight reading, rhythm exercises, and performance preparation. I support students in exam preparation and performance confidence.
My unique skill is my adaptability. I customise lessons for beginners, advanced students, and busy professionals, creating a supportive learning experience for everyone.

My flute teaching methodology is rooted in Communication, Creativity, and Flexibility, providing a holistic learning experience tailored to each student. I begin by understanding the student’s skill level, musical interests, and personal goals, ensuring that every lesson is relevant and engaging.
Clear communication is at the core of my approach—I explain techniques such as breath control, fingering, posture, articulation, and musical phrasing in a clear, step-by-step manner. Students are encouraged to ask questions, experiment, and actively participate in their own learning journey.
Creativity plays a central role in my teaching. I encourage students to explore different musical genres, experiment with improvisation, and develop their own interpretations of pieces. This allows students to not only master technical skills but also cultivate a unique musical voice and artistic expression. Flexibility ensures that lessons are adapted to the student’s pace, progress, and individual preferences. I adjust exercises, introduce new challenges, and provide alternative strategies to overcome obstacles, ensuring a personalised and rewarding learning experience.
In addition to flute performance, I integrate music theory, rhythm exercises, sight-reading, and ear training to build well-rounded musicianship. My methodology emphasises both technical proficiency and expressive performance, helping students gain confidence, creativity, and a lifelong passion for music, making the journey enjoyable and inspiring at every stage.
