About Matt
I have dedicated my life to the study of voice. Over the last ten years, I've studied with many teachers, each specializing in a different genre to develop a solid methodology. With a strong foundation in classical, rock, metal and pop, I have the tools necessary to make sure you not only improve the voice you have, but develop the voice you want.
I got my start in music as a sophomore in high school, playing tuba in marching band and taking private voice lessons. I've performed not only as a vocalist, but as a tubist, trombonist and pianist for different jazz, worship, and concert bands.
While earning my Associates in Music while living in California’s Bay Area, I led a worship band for over 2 years as a vocalist and pianist. Afterwards, I moved to San Diego State to study for my B.A in Vocal Performance. During my studies, I've performed many different concerts in not only solo classical voice, but choral and opera as well.
Outside of formal education, I've held a passion for metalcore and post-hardcore music. With bands like Ice Nine Kills, Bring Me the Horizon, and A Day to Remember being huge inspirations, I've begun work on my own metalcore project.
Through taking lessons, you will learn to sing the way you want to. Whether you want to learn to sing an operatic aria by Donizetti, a smooth jazz piece by the Rat Pack, or to safely scream you head off to some Motionless in White, Ice Nine Kills, or My Chemical Romance, I'm here to teach you how

Whether you're a complete beginner, or a seasoned performer, I can help you become the singer you want to be!
I believe that music, whether approached as a hobby or a profession, can be taught to anyone. You may hear that singing is a talent that only a few have, I will tell you that nothing can stop you from learning what you want...except you!
During lessons, we will ensure that the fundamental techniques are being learned not just through warm-ups and scales, but through song study. During lessons with me, expect to learn everything you need to become the best musican possible, including:
- Proper vocal technique to increase range, tone quality, and vocal stamina
- Performance tips to help get past that dreaded stage fright
- Fundamental musicianship and theory (Reading, aural skills, and even history if applicable)
