About Sophie
I achieved my BFA in piano performance from Tulane University in 2015, and my postbaccalaureate equivalency in music therapy from Berklee College of Music in 2016, followed by board certification in music therapy in 2017. I have been teaching piano in various capacities for over 10 years, and although my primary background is in classical performance and instruction, I have taught in a range of genres and settings. I have a deep love for many styles of music and aim to work on the music students are most interested in. I am a well-rounded musician and in addition to piano, play the guitar, ukulele, and harp, and love to sing as well.

I am a music educator and music therapist with an extensive background working with individuals of all ages and abilities. I have been teaching in various settings for over 10 years, and have been working in music therapy for 8 years. As a teacher, I am flexible and aim to follow each student's interests - I know that students learn best when they are working on the music they actually want to play! I place a strong emphasis on music theory and ear training in addition to technical instrumental instruction, in order to help my students become well-rounded musicians. At the same time, I focus on instilling proper technique and healthy warmup habits to keep students playing and feeling their best. I am able to teach all levels of piano, as well as beginner/intermediate ukulele and guitar. I accept students of all ages, levels, and abilities.
