About Pandit Sudarshan
Five times (5) Guinness World Records Holders- Longest Hand Marathon Tabla (2016) - 557 hours 11 minutes. Longest Dhol Marathon (2017)27 hours Longest Drum Roll Marathon (2018)- 14 hours. Longest Drum Set Marathon ( 2019) 140 hours 5 minutes and Longest Drum Roll Marathon ( 2021-22) 16 hours minutes 50 Seconds. Biography of Tabla Bisharod (PANDIT) SUDARSHAN DAS Tabla was attracted to the Tabla from his early childhood. His keen interest in the Tabla encouraged him to learn fast and play Tabla using complicated rhythmical patterns and also learn different taals. His marked preference for complicated rhythmic patterns is not only technical skill in itself, but rather ecstatic expression of his act of playing Tabla Bishaord Sudarshan Das received his first lessons from Sri Shymal Dutta. In the last 30 years ago, he has received guidance from the Great Tabla Master Pandit Bijan Chatterjee at SHANTINIKETON (INDIA). In 1990, he received has first Gold Medal prize in the International Collegiate Oriental Music Composition. In 1992 and 1994 he received 2 (Two) Gold Medals in Dhaka.His career began at the age of 20, with a televised concert which was broadcast by the All India Doordarshan (TV). Sudarshan Das got the Tabla Diploma from SHANTINIKETON IN BOLPUR IN INDIA. He received his honorary Tabla Bisharod Certificate from NIKIL BHARAT SANGEET NIKETON IN 1998. THE INDIA MINISTRY AND ARTS HAS AWARDED HIM WITH THE 2ND PRIZE IN BENGALURU IN INDIA 2008. Sudarshan Das has performed at International Concerts in India, Bangladesh , Pakistan including Europe and USA. In Britain and around the world on behalf of Guinness World Records Celebrations, he performed at over 300 Concerts, including on the BBC, Channel 4, Sky TV & Phonix Television (Brazil).He is performance in Royal Albert Hall, Barbican, O2 Arena and participation in renowned award programmes held in Britain with celebrities signify the international recognition that he has been bestowed with. Following the passion he is currently teaching the Tabla Playing in Primary and Secondary Schools in London, elevating the position of this instrument in the English Curriculum. He skilful teaching is proven to be successful in the TOWER HAMLETS, NEWHAM & CAMDEN Borough's schools, as highly appreciated and recognised by the expert educators in music. Furthermore Sudarshan Das has established "TABLA & DHOL ACADEMY " school in East London and is Currently teaching students from multicultural backgrounds. In 2006, in London, Tabla Pandit Sudarshan Das has Developed a new Tabla Gerena Called "THAMES" , with a composition of radical beats, tempo and pattern. Das has worked at Langdon Academy for more than 5 years as a tutor of dhol and tabla. He is a holder of several World Guinness records. He consistently has high expectations of his students and adapts his teaching to suit their needs. He teaches both solo and ensemble performance to a high standard. He prepared students for many performances at different London venues, including Steinway Hall. I would not hesitate to recommend Das as a tutor.
