About Sherilynn
Hello! My name is Sherilynn Peng, but you can call me Sheri. I moved to California from out of state to attend college and recently graduated from UC Irvine. I have always loved learning and education, and I enjoy helping students feel more confident and capable in their studies.
I studied piano for over 10 years, developing a strong foundation in technique, sight-reading, music theory, and musical expression. Through my coursework in cognitive science, I also learned about how people process information and develop new skills. I apply this knowledge when creating personalized piano lessons that match each student’s goals, interests, and learning style. My goal is to help students build confidence, develop strong practice habits, and find enjoyment in playing music.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy journaling, listening to podcasts, visiting art museums, trying new coffee shops, and spending time with friends. I’m excited to get to know you, understand your musical goals, and support you throughout your piano journey!

The first lesson begins with an assessment of the student’s current skill level and any areas where they may need additional support. I also take time to understand their goals, motivation, musical interests, and preferred learning style.
From there, I create personalized lessons that include pieces the student will enjoy at an appropriate level, along with relevant music theory, technique, sight-reading, and practice strategies. My goal is to make lessons engaging while helping each student build a strong musical foundation and steady confidence at the piano.
